Excel Classes and Presentations

Jim Colville is considered one of the top experts in Excel using it to create solutions to the most sophisticated and complex challenges. His library of over 500 courses allows him to be ready for your speaking request.

Most all of his auditing and forensic accounting engagements use the full power of Excel keeping the fees low and resulting in quick and powerful solutions.  Many examples in his presentations highlight these.

While the overall theme in his presentations is Solutions, two underlying themes are Simplify the Complex and Zero Time Reporting.

In achieving these themes, an additional underlying theme for the individual professional is to Excel at Excel. Your experience and knowledge of Excel in accomplishing your daily Excel challenges adds tremendously to your resume and allows you to add great value to your company or organization and to the immediate project at hand.

When asked to speak, the engagement must be on a specific Excel topic using Excel 365, and that the topic has a purpose and the users are attending to learn solutions. In other words, general topics just to get better attendance at your event are discouraged. We have found that these sessions leave the users dissatisfied due to their varied experience and needs. Case in point: there were two topics on Excel at the IMA National Convention in Austin in June 2022. Jim’s topic was had specific learning objectives with the specific Excel features to be presented, Dynamic Arrays. The attendance in the session was about 350 attendees, of the highest in the four day event. The other speaker was talking about saving time, impressing your boss, etc. While these can be good topics, without the clear learning objectives and specific objectives, many of the attendees left dissatisfied as their preconceived ideas of what time saving was turned out to be different than the presenters. The presenter ended up being dissatisfied as well in receiving less than stellar evaluations and had attendance of about 80 attendees.
