Info-Stat was founded in the late 1980s. The founder, Jim Colville, CPA, was performing accounting related consulting projects and many requests were made for statistical analysis-type projects. The Info-Stat name was not in effect at that time. At first, these projects were performed using Lotus 1-2-3 and then Excel v 3 and 4 beginning around 1990. No web-based projects yet, a bit before the Internet being mainstream. We began using the name InfoStat and issuing reports in that name.
In 1996 the company obtained the domain name Info-Stat.com (with the hyphen) as InfoStat was already taken and began doing business with Excel knowledge articles and Excel file downloads along with other technology topics.
Back tracking, the CPA spreadsheet consulting business evolved into dedicated PC Training in the Fall of 1986 which became San Diego’s largest and most prominent PC training company. Yes, some consulting projects still came our way. Our training focus was first, basic through advanced software training, but second, tailored programs to fit the companies specific needs. In other words, Solutions based. About this time the PC Training began to become oversaturated and large mass training companies took over the market. We kept with our Solutions Based approach (and still do to this day), but the glory days of great revenue declined and we supplemented the training with consulting projects, large and small, large and small companies.
An interesting service that Info-Stat has provided over the years, and continues to do so, is Surveys. These are not simple surveys you see everywhere. They are in-depth and provide the readers with substantial and valuable information. Examples: ALA San Diego Law Firm Salary Survey. Presley Homes new home potential buyers. UCSD Extended Studies Tax Topic survey’s and CPA candidate Qualified Hours survey. More recently, 2023-2026 is Small Business Financial Reporting GAAP vs User Needs. HOA member transparency. Churches, nonprofit organizations and HOAs solar projects meeting expectations.
The Info-Stat business was revitalized and modernized in 2023 as the new Excel365Solutions.com website utilizing all the attributes of the legacy Info-Stat topics and adding to it the evolution of technology and Excel 365.
Click Here for a listing of selected consulting projects done over the years by Info-Stat and now Excel365Solutions.com. As noted above some of these projects were in the early versions of Excel and the subsequent projects encompassing all versions of Excel. Today’s focus is with Excel 365 and the many modernized functions and features.
